Title: Two Wrongs Make a Right
Author: lisacali
Characters/Pairing: Beecher/Keller
Rating: R
Warnings: n/a
Word count: 56,000
Notes & acknowledgements: This story was started many years ago under the title 'Worlds Apart,' as part of the 'Two Wrongs Make a Right' series. I never liked that title, so I took this opportunity to give this story the series title. Other stories in the series can be found in my journal under the two wrongs tag. The first two parts of this story were posted about seven years ago! Thank god for this challenge to force me to finish it up.

Part I acknowledgements (as posted at the time): Thank you, thank you to Anne for her great beta work! I, of course, cannot leave well enough alone, and made some changes right before posting, so all my mistakes are entirely mine. Thank you, also, to kitestringer, just because. ;) And, as always, to Kim. I'd like to dedicate this to Maverick, for doing so much lately to keep the Oz fic flowing!

Part II acknowledgements (as posted at the time): Much thanks to Anne for her suggestions and very speedy beta job, though I couldn't stop myself from fiddling around some more - all mistakes are mine. I'm dedicating this to Rebecca, who does these "boy meets boy" stories so well, and contributes so much to keeping the romance alive.

And now I'd like to tip my hat to trillingstar, ozsaur and marythefan for putting this all together. And of course, rustler, for giving it a home.

And a huge thank you to pride_of_erin, for jumping in and doing such a great beta job at literally the last minute on the last 30,000 plus words!

For luci_2, for being a patient fan of these boys. :)

Special note: dustandroses created cover art for this story, available at the link below.

A *huge* thank you to dustandroses for the amazing cover art! It's perfect and I love it!

“So,” Chris began with a smile, pleased to have a moment alone with Beecher, “what’s up with you?”

“Not so much, really. But I have been thinking about doing something lately, was wondering if you’d be interested.”

“Shoot.”

“Have you ever…”

In a split second, Chris’ imagination came up with several endings to that sentence: “…gone skinny-dipping?” “…had a deep-tissue massage?” “…taught someone how to give a blow-job?”

A few days ago I was looking through the oz_rapsheet and saw your last story in this universe. You had mentioned you were going to have a prequel and I was like "wonder when that's going to posted" then lo an behold I saw it. I loved it like the other stories in this 'verse. I loved the parallels like how the glass didn't break which reminded me of how Chris threw the bottle of Jack and it didn't break. I also liked how you showed that Toby was really a jerk but you didn't make him unsympathetic. I find a lot of times people make one of them more of an asshole for the sake of making the other one better. They both are but they can both also be sweet. Long story short this was pretty spectacular. Sorry it took me so long to comment. I hope you continue writing in this Universe cause it's pretty damn great.

Wow, thanks again. I think I will. Now that I have this prequel done - finally! - I feel free to do some more little vignettes.

<-----Beecher the slut hehe! ;)
I finally finished reading ur story. It was way beyond OZSOME! I've always loved the Beecher/Keller pairing, but i also love it when authors add other oz charactors to the story. Reading this fiction was like watching a movie drama in my head. The imagination is always better and ur note to details was perfect. I think my fav detail was the one when Beecher was going through his mid life crisis after he and Keller split and he was wearing leather and a wifebeater. That image will never leave my head now, but in a good way hehe. I think it was great to see Keller play the good guy for a change and him having his big dream of owning a business of his own come true. I definatly need to make the time to read the rest of the series to this story. Thank ya so much for finishing this! *claps hands* :)

Thank you very much for your wonderful comments, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. I like the image of Beecher in leather a lot myself!

I feel so honored that you singled me out in your Notes!
So glad to be back in this universe and be able to read the 'missing' part of
their story.
I like how you used secondary OZ characters here : Antonio Nappa ( I was always partial to the old mobster gentleman ), Pancamo, Tony and Fiona.
I' m happy to see that a long-standing OZ WIP was concluded. It's one of my targets in life, as my twin Suespur can tell you.
Now we' ll be waiting and hoping for little vignettes, now and then...

Yay. I loved this story. This was the first one I read from the OZ Big Bang, and I had a feeling it was going to be great, and guess what? I WAS! It mad me happy, sad, and mad -mad in a good way- and everything in between. Thanks for this amazing story. I also read the other parts and they were amazing also.

I hope you do make more parts to this story. Looking forward to reading them.

just finished and, wow. what a fantastic story. i kept waiting for the love scene... expecting it and, surprisingly, i'm okay that it never came. the tease of it was enough and the depth of the story was so good that it all wrapped up nicely.

love the anastasia beaverhausen reference. heheheee oh will and grace, how i miss thee.

i loved the whole 'getting to know each other' part in the beginning. it was so wonderful seeing them gravitate toward each other. even in fic, the image of keller and beecher ...they just have this amazing chemistry.

i loved their first blow job together.

i have to tell you, the scene of chris and the kid in the hotel room was written fantastically. i LOVED that part of this story. it was so sad and tragic.

the only negative comment i'll make-- although maybe it's a compliment because you wrote him as such-- is how much i really hated toby for what he did to chris. it just seemed like too much of an overreaction. i understand and appreciated it for what it did to carry the story, but i kind of resented toby for it. chris was a great guy in this story. and toby's reaction to something he did after years of abuse and a childhood of horrors should have elicited sympathy, not the knee-jerk craziness that toby fell into.

that being said, even in AU toby's self-hatred/punishment is alive and well. heheheee.

overall i loved this story and it had such a wonderful romantic sway to it. without being cheesy or using tacky language, which is rare.

great great job!

Yay! You're the only person who has let me know they got that! *high five*

I appreciate these comments, and I agree with them. I will admit that parts of this story were rushed, and I didn't spend as much time getting to the conclusions I wanted as I should have. I may even re-write some of it in the future. But I'm glad you liked the story as a whole, and the part with Chris and the hustler in the hotel room especially. I debated on leaving that in - glad I did.

Thanks so much for the great fb!

This story was awesome! It was sweet, sexy and full of angst--Just the way I like 'em. I read your shorter ones, too and your version of Chris and Toby made my heart flutter. Major kudos to you! *sighs*

I loved reading this story so much! It drew me in and I think you captured the characters perfectly considering it was an AU fic.

I know that some authors need encouragement, and actual feedback. Are you going to do the oz bigbang again this year?..next year? I saw the ones that were being put out today. So whenever the next one starts.

For me, I just never get the energy or the 'need' to write when I know no one will ever comment on my things.

I hope I'll be motivated to do the big bang next year. *g* And I know what you mean about feedback. It really helps the motivation when you get comments on the writing you do.

Thanks again!

Hi! I'm not sure where exactly to leave this comment, but I think here might be best?

I only recently discovered oz_big_bang when the sign-up was posted for this year's event. In checking out the community, the first story I decided to read was your "Destiny" fic from last year, and I was totally blown away! I absolutely loved it! It was so original and unique, and such an amazing universe you created. I loved how your Toby and Chris had all the best qualities of the canon characters, and none of the bad stuff (like the addictions or the sociopathic homicidal tendencies :D). It's like they were totally the characters I always wanted them to be, and never were. And l loved the ending, because I am totally a happy-ending kind of person. :) I really like how you used the epilogue to explain what eventually happened to the characters long-term.

So, I was going to leave a comment, but then I wasn't sure if you were getting comment notifications for the story? And then I saw a comment mentioning how you had other B/K AUs, and that's when I discovered "A Fullness of Heart and A Passionate Grief." I started reading that, and I was blown away all over again! Your descriptions and writing style of Toby and Chris in that time period were great, and really enjoyed imagining them in that universe as well. I honestly couldn't decide if I liked it more than "Destiny" or not, they were both so very good in their own way.

You can probably guess what happened next: I found this "Two Wrongs" big bang story, as well as "Fuzzy Slippers" and "The Middle." "Two Wrongs" was a great story as well, but this one made me cry a lot more, LOL. Poor Toby was just such a mess, and then he had to take it out on Chris. I just felt so bad for both of them, and I wish it hadn't taken so long for Toby to get his act together. While reading, I was at least comforted to know that you had written more stories in this universe, so I was confident that things were going to turn out OK in the end. It was fun to be able to jump ahead in time right away to "Fuzzy Slippers," and especially "The Middle," where I could see how happy their life together ended up being. Yay!

It's funny, I've never really liked AUs in other fandoms, but for Oz, and in particular your stories, it really works for me. Maybe that's because the canon is so incredibly depressing and frustrating. I appreciated your use of humor throughout all the stories, it was very well done and I think it makes a big difference when dealing with the sometimes overwhelming nature of the storylines for these characters.

So, anyway, I apologize for not leaving individual comments at each of the stories, that's probably not very good fandom etiquette. But I was a little afraid of coming across like a some kind of creepy stalker if I left comments for 5 separate stories (3 of which were big-bang length) all at the same time without explaining myself. And I also wasn't sure if you would see the ones at the Big Bang community.

I was thrilled to see that you signed up for this year's Oz Big Bang as well, and that you might even be doing a sequel? I'm already looking forward to what you might have in store, and for which universe! :)

First of all, don't worry about not leaving individual comments, this was just fine!

So...Wow! I am so thrilled that you enjoyed these stories so much, and were so kind to let me know! I really had a good time writing them, though I kind of surprised myself by how I took to writing AUs - I guess I had said all I had to say in my canon stories. But I was a little leery at how they would be received, so feedback like this makes my day!

It especially made me feel good that you mentioned how you appreciated the humor. I can't tell a joke to save my life, so when I can get something to come across in my writing that kind of makes up for my lameness in RL!

Thank you so very much for this lovely, inspiring feedback. It was the definite bright spot in my otherwise kind of icky day.

I would very much like to write more in the Two Wrongs universe - I have a definite soft spot for those guys. And I've got an idea for a follow-up to Passionate Heart, but I think I'm going with yet another AU for the Bang this year. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Thank you again, you're awesome!

This story was fabulous! My guts ripped from one end to the other.

Definitely, my most favourite moment was
"It's bullshit, is what it is." But Chris was smiling and the sun was shining and he was here with Beecher. Who the fuck cared if the little ball went into the little hole?
Ten minutes later, Chris threw his club and stalked to the side of the green. "I'll watch you."

The first half of the story was lovely and fun, but the second half kicked up to another level. The build-up to the almost-kiss was agonisingly wonderful, and to cut it off with the asshole calling them faggots... As if I didn't hate homophobia enough already.

Toby showing up in Gen's car, ack! Noooo! I love the way you had Chris hammering him with questions, setting up his own disappointment: so realistic.

And I love that when they do kiss, it's so fucked up. Chris's life in such flux, it's a great moment.

The build up of Ronnie skipping bail was beautifully done, btw. The way you kept it looming, and it still felt like a sucker punch when it happened.

That was a roller coaster of a read. Beautifully done. Thank you!
